How do I care for my RipSkirt Hawaii items?Updated 7 days ago

As with all laundry, we recommend washing and drying items with like colors. White and darker or bolder colors especially should be washed and dried separately to prevent dye transfer.

To remove wrinkles, we suggest steaming or tumble drying on low heat with a clean towel for a few minutes. Some items may be ironed—please check the tag for each garment for specific care instructions and symbols.

Note: For items with tie or velcro closures, buttons, or zippers, we recommend washing inside out and using a laundry bag to protect them during washing.

Item-Specific Care Instructions

RipSkirts & Sport Skirts

RipSkirts - Wash in cold water with like colors with the velcro closed and in a laundry bag. This extends the life of the velcro and prevents it from catching on other items. Tumble dry on low heat with velcro closed and in a laundry bag for extra protection if desired.

Sport Skirts - Wash in cold water on a delicate cycle and dry on low heat. Place in a laundry bag to protect the tie and grommets in both cycles.

Both RipSkirts and Sport Skirts can also be spot-washed and hung out to dry!

Solid color prints may require washing and ironing before the first use to remove packing creases. Most customers find they only need to iron their items once. To remove wrinkles, we suggest steaming or ironing on low heat with a cloth in between the fabric and iron to protect it.

Tops, Sun Hoodies, and Half Zips - Wash inside out with similar colors in cold water on a gentle cycle and tumble dry on low heat or hang dry. We recommend separating whites to prevent dye transfer from colors, and separating darker or bolder colors to prevent dye transfer onto other items.

  • Sun Hoody and Half Zip- Tie drawstring or zip up and place in a laundry bag to prevent damage or removal of the tie in the wash.
  • Everyday Tops, Fitted Sleeveless, and Drop Shoulder Tops  - Can be ironed. Hover over with the steam setting, or press using low heat.

Sun & Tee Shirt dresses - Wash in cold water with like colors on a delicate cycle and tumble dry on low heat or hang dry. Low heat for iron.

Travel dresses, Popover Tops, and Beach Button Ups(100% Cotton Gauze) Wash in cold water with like colors on a delicate cycle using a gentle detergent. For items with buttons, fasten the buttons and wash inside out, or place in a laundry bag to protect them. Tumble dry gauze clothing on low heat, or lay flat to dry on a towel or hang to dry to help prevent shrinkage and preserve softness.

Beachcomber & Travel Pants - Wash cool with like colors, and tumble dry on low heat. To prevent damage to the buttons and drawstring, we recommend washing travel pants in a laundry bag

Runaround Coverup - Wash cold with like colors, and tumble dry on low heat.

Beach Cozy- Wash cold with like colors, and tumble dry on low heat. Avoid fabric softeners and dryer sheets.

Travel Towels - Wash with the velcro pocket closed with like colors and with other towels. Avoid fabric softeners and dryer sheets. We don't recommend washing travel towels with clothing in order to prevent the Velcro on the pocket from snagging on other items.

Sun Scarves - Hand wash in cold water and hang dry.

Undershorts - Wash in cold water with like colors on a delicate cycle and tumble dry on low heat.

Sleep Shirts -  Wash inside out in cold water on a gentle cycle, and tumble dry on low heat, or hang dry or lay flat to prevent shrinkage.

Cargo Totes - Hand wash in cold water and hang dry.
